Youth and young adults (YYA) should be entitled to safe and stable housing with no strings attached. Access to vouchers for YYA is restricted due to a variety of systemic obstacles. These barriers force young people into congregate shelters, further perpetuating cycles of poverty and instability.

Youth and young adults (YYA) face a variety of barriers to accessing safe and stable housing, such as systemic and structural racism, age discrimination, and a scarce supply of affordable housing suitable for occupancy. Additionally, Black, Indigenous, and other youth of color have been systematically excluded from employment opportunities and access to stable income.
